How Coaching Fits This Need
Most people I work with have spent years trying to understand themselves — through therapy, groups, apps, books, and endless podcasts. But as Dr. Russell Barkley says, ADHD isn’t a knowledge disorder. It’s not that you don’t know what to do — it’s that you cannot do what you know. What our brains need is a practical, results-focused approach that turns all that hard-won self-knowledge into concrete action and real, measurable progress — across both your ADHD and your recovery.
That’s exactly where ADHD and Recovery coaching comes in. More than a set of steps, it’s a tailored, collaborative space that holds your goals, your challenges, and everything you’ve learned about yourself — with in-between-session support and gentle accountability to keep you moving where you usually stay stuck.
It’s where all that knowing finally becomes doing — one step at a time, at a pace that fits you.
Can you also double check the front page still says “All Behaviour Makes Sense…” under the “About Coaching” banner — just want to confirm nothing got swapped there too.

My mission
Bringing into the open what ADHD and addiction so often leave unaddressed — helping you heal both sides of the same coin.
My vision
A world where ADHD and addiction are seen as two sides of the same coin — where you don’t have to stall your life to heal, or fit someone else’s idea of healing.
Meet Diane
Hi. I’m Diane O’Reilly...
Hitting my first rock bottom with alcohol at 26 was, it turns out, only the first layer of my recovery. For years I was still leaning on food, relationships, and relentless busyness to cope with undiagnosed trauma — and an ADHD mind and body I didn’t yet know I had.
I was finally diagnosed with ADHD at 43, and so much suddenly made sense. I could see the pattern: ADHD had been driving my need to self-medicate all along — with alcohol, food, busyness, and other behaviours that took the edge off and slowed my mind down.
Since that diagnosis, I’ve been steadily working to free myself from each of the places I was still stuck — trying many approaches until I found the combination that worked. For me that included meditation, trauma work, medication when I needed it, naturopathy and nutrition — protein, supplements, better sleep — and 12-step and non-secular recovery meetings, where I learned how to break the old patterns that kept me looping between helplessness and rescuing, drawn to people and situations that drained me.
Around the same time, I found coaching — and for the first time in my life, I had someone helping me see what was actually blocking me, set goals that fit my brain, and steps to move toward them at my own pace, while still being gently challenged.
I fell in love with that process so completely that I went back to school to train as an ADHD coach — and later an addiction recovery coach too — and opened my own coaching practice. I was finally reaching the potential that undertreated ADHD and addiction had always smothered — starting to function on the outside the way I’d always dreamed I could on the inside.
This is why I do what I do! Because I’ve sat where you might be sitting — stuck, ashamed, hidden, and so discouraged that I’d stopped trying, believing I was stupid or lazy, when the truth was I had all the insight, but no one had ever helped me turn it into action. That’s what I know now: the way through isn’t about understanding yourself more — it’s about finally turning that hard-won understanding into doing, with someone who gets you, listens for what you and your mind and body actually need, and helps you take the small, personalised first steps toward meeting them. Because, as I like to say — when we meet the needs, the traits recede.
